TODAY WE INTRODUCE YOU TO CATALINA .......
a smart girl ... about 8 weeks old ...... badly hurt ..... exposed .... and without help she would not have survived !!!
When our vet Deborah Fuerst Veterinaria A Domicilio was called to a Spanish family, Catalina came running over even though she was really badly injured.
When the family were asked what had happened to the dog, of course, came .the reply the dog had been injured.
She had a dirty rag tied around her foot, and then came a dirty, purulent, inflamed wound to the fore ....... EVEN in her small little mouth she had injuries.
After the first aid then came the crucial question: WHERE COULD SHE GO?
For two days she stayed with the Spanish family as there had been a lot of stray dogs, and we needed somewhere for her desperately.
Then we picked her up and our unique and wonderful Vet, Deborah took her home with her.
She needed serious treatment and 24 hour care.
More information to follow!.............
Her wounds are healing well, but she has anemia, very little white blood cells and platelets and her immune systems are really down.
Catalina eats and drinks well, but she always has a fever again.
Now the extensive blood tests are complete and fortunately everything is negative!!
She is having other drugs and we must hope that these work!!!!
Finally good news ...... the fever is gone and Catalina plays again ..... She has new blood cells forming, but is still on two different antibiotics.
On Monday, the next blood test ..... fingers crossed that the white blood cells continue to proliferate briskly. We will update regularly.
PLEASE HELP, she desperately needs a foster home or even better of course her own family. The little girl is very sweet and friendly, and is going to be medium in size.
